Making the decision to move overseas is a daunting prospect, especially when you have a family to consider. What if with the benefit of a little hindsight we could have done things differently and avoided avoid some seemingly obvious mistakes? But, without having a time machine that we can hop into and give our pre-move selves some insight into the future, we must take one step at a time trusting that we are making the right decisions.
Although, even without a time machine here are a few things that you can expect to experience when you move overseas.
You will fail…at some point
Not that the entire decision to move overseas and everything that succeeded will be a disaster, just expect to encounter a few unanticipated hurdles along the way. And expect to trip up over these hurdles now and again. Recognise the importance of failures on the journey to success and adopt the right mindset. Every time something fails, look for the lesson and use that knowledge to your advantage.
You will need to learn again
Everything will be new and everything you used to take for granted will have to be relearned with some rewiring modifications to fit the new country. Just the simple task of going to the supermarket will present new challenges.
You have to enjoy the journey
Moving overseas is stressful and it will be a long time before you feel like you have ‘finally arrived’. Things are going to happen in between your move and your anticipated new settled life. Enjoy the process and have some fun and you might discover something even better than you were expecting.
Live your life to the full
Don’t let any regrets about your decision to move hold you back. Take time to experience your new life. Get out, surprise yourself and do something different. Enjoy your youth and create some new experiences and memories.
Take the chance
When you move overseas you are already out of your comfort zone, so take the opportunity to step out a little further. The more risks you take the more rewards you will stand to achieve.
But, when it comes to your financial emigration it should be faultless. Don’t take the chance, rather get the benefit from our many years of experience and past performance before you take the plunge.
